Don't Feed Your Fears!
Let's assume you have a special dream you're working towards. Let's say that fears and insecurities are bullying you into paralysis and you're scared to go forward and you don't want to go backward.
So what do you do?
Be honest with yourself, are you feeding your fears with unreasonable concerns that you repeat over and over to yourself?
Why would you do that? Why would you sabotage your own progress toward a dream come true?
Why would you barricade your hard work behind a defensive blockade of unreasonable fears and insecurities? Are you professionally stuck due to fear of failure? Let's talk about it!
What are your biggest fears when it comes to your professional life? Write them down and explore them in detail. Be honest about them. Talk clearly to yourself.
How have your fears held you back in the past? What opportunities have you missed out on because of them? Do you have regret deep down inside that is eating at you right now?
What would you do if you weren't afraid of failing? Write about your dream job or project or accomplishment without any limitations. Write without thinking about complete anxiety or getting over your head if you ever went for it all the way.
What is the worst-case scenario if you fail? Write about how you would handle it and what you would learn from it. Are you afraid of what people might say?
What is the best-case scenario if you succeed? Write about how it would change your life and what opportunities it would open up for you. How would it feel to give it your all and to see it succeed?
What are some small steps you can take to overcome your fear of failure? Write about how you can build your confidence and take action. Be thorough and sincere.
What are some positive things you can tell yourself when you feel stuck or afraid? What kind of mental self-talk do you engage in when you think about your dreams and goals? Write them down and read them carefully. Face them head-on.
What are some things you can do to take care of yourself when you're feeling overwhelmed, anxious or panicky? Write about what you would do in the form of self-care practices, that work for you and would soothe your anxiety.
Who are some people in your life who support and encourage you? Write about who they are, how they have helped you in the past, and how they can help you now. Tell them what they mean to you.
What are some things you have accomplished in the past that you are proud of? Write about how you can use those successes to build your confidence. How do you feel about those accomplishments?
What are some things you can do to learn from failure and use it as a stepping stone to success? Write about how you can reframe failure as a learning opportunity and as training to be able to move forward.
What are some things you can do to celebrate your successes, no matter how small that would be an encouragement to you? Write about how you can acknowledge and appreciate your progress.
